Flight Fiasco: Part Two

So, back to the story...

You might be wondering why I am flying out of Walla Walla. Well, my family lives there and the plan was to drive Calypso (yes, my car's name is Calypso) up to Walla Walla and leave her with my sister to use while I was gone. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks my brother-in-law is über awesome because we found out about a month ago that he was offered a great position...in Roseville, CA...just after I was supposed to depart.

The mad shuffling began. Ideally I'd find somewhere to leave Calypso in SoCal—but then how to get up to Walla Walla? In the midst of the frustration I kept thinking back to something that had happened several weeks back.

It was a last minute decision—go to an activity with a friend or stay home and work on fundraising letters? Even though it meant I'd be sitting on the sidelines, I decided to tagalong—and take the letters with me.

I sat down, got ready to pull out my binder—and started chatting with the person near me. Well, I didn't get any letters written, but I did make a new friend! I was touched as, yet again, an until then stranger got excited about my project and asked how they could help. The person laughed when I shared my same-day roundtrip flight fiasco.

"Did you get it worked out?"
"Yes, I actually just got stuff taken care of," I said and shared about my phone call with Alaska Air.
"Well, if something else happens, let me know."

Well, something had happened, so I pulled out the email address I'd been given and sent off a quick note.

Sure enough, that person knew exactly what to do, and I now have an extremely reasonable ticket to Wally World! It was, yet again, another blessed encounter smoothing the way for this trip.
